IHCC Overcomes Slow Start to Win Own Invite

Ottumwa -- The Indian Hills golf team found intself in a strange place after the first round of its own Community 1st Credit Union Invitational.  The Warriors, who have never lost this event, were seven shots behind Iowa Western after the opening 18 holes.  And they trailed Johnson County by three strokes.

But after two more rounds, the Warriors had regained their touch and had a convincing victory.  They ended up 13 shots ahead of Iowa Western and a whopping 37 in front of Johnson County.

Conner Peck, an IHCC freshman, followed up an impressive performance in his first meet earlier in the month another strong showing.  Peck narrowly lost the battle for the individual title to Iowa Western's Jimmy Jaskoske by one stroke.  Each player turned in a five-under score of 67 for the final round, which was also the low round for the tourney.

Indian Hills had four of the top seven scores and seven of the top 17.

IHCC's Mitch Tucker, William White and Colin Pearson all finished in the top seven.

Tucker and White both had one under-par round on the way to scores of 219 and 220, respectively.  Pearson was another three shots back.

Indian Hills now has nearly a month off before returning to action in the Cougar Golf Classic in Chicago Oct. 15-16.
