Moravia -- The Indian Hills golf team was disappointed in its fourth-place finish in the Lou Hart Invitational earlier in the week. So it was important that Mike Hagen's team got back in action as soon as possible to fix the things that didn't go right in the tourney in Mississippi.
And the Warriors responded in just the way their coach hoped they would with an easy victory in the Statesmen Spring Classic at The Preserve at Honey Creek Resort.
Indian Hills opened up an 18-shot lead after the opening round and increased the margin to 37 strokes by the end of the two-day tournament. That was a whopping 17-under par for 36 holes.
The Warriors dominated the leaderboard with seven players in the top ten. Matt Solis was edged by Grand View's Ben Kern for medalist honors. Solis had matching rounds of three-under par 69. Teammates Dan Dawson and Steven Ihm were another shot back at 139. Both had one round of 69 and one 70.
Jon Paul Blampied started with a four-under 68, tied for the low score in the tourney, and then followed with an even-par 72. Three other Warriors -- Cameron Munro, Monty Lack and Zach Steffen -- also had sub-par rounds, and Taylor Onley had an even-par 72.
The Warriors will go to Missouri this week for the William Jewell Spring Invitational in Liberty.
