Warriors are 6th in Return to Texas

Westworth Village, TX -- Indian Hills sophomore Monty Lack took a run at the individual title as the Warriors finished 6th in the UST Mamiya Texas Intercollegiate.

It was the second straight tourney in Texas to open the season for the Warriors and their showing was encouraging to coach Mike Hagen.

"I felt really good about the way we ended up," said Hagen. "Those are the best numbers we've ever put up at this tournament since I've been at Indian Hills. We played right with some really good teams throughout the two days."

In fact, Indian Hills was the only two-year school in the 16-team field.

Lack had a strong performance to lead the Warriors, firing back-to-back two-under par 70s. He was just two shots back of medalist Johan Anderson of Southern Nazarene.

Freshman Mitch Tucker also played well for IHCC, with rounds of 73 and 71, good for a tie for 16th. Also at 144 was Kevin Workman who had a one-under round of 71 on Sunday. Indian Hills soph Jon Paul Blampied had a 71 in the opening round, but struggled a little on the second day and wound up in a tie for 33rd place after a 77.

Oklahoma Christian won a playoff with Oklahoma City for the team title.

Indian Hills is idle until going to the John A. Logan Spring Invitational March 25-26.
