Solid Second Round Leads to Another Title

Newton, KS -- When the Indian Hill golf team returns to the Sand Creek Station Course for its next two meets -- the District and National Tournament events -- it will do so with confidence.  It's a confidence gained from a 10-shot victory in the Iowa-Kansas Clash where the Warriors built a sizeable lead after the second round and coasted to their third straight team title.

The Warriors defeated Dodge City by ten strokes and the big reason was a second 18 holes in which IHCC shot a 290, 17 strokes better than Dodge City.  The two teams each shot an opening-round 288.

Dodge City had the top two individual scores, but Indian Hills had the next five finishers.  All five Warriors shot between 71 and 73 in the opening round -- a one-under par 71 by Monty Lack, even-par 72s by William White, Jon Paul Blampied and Mitch Tucker and a 73 by Ben Ludlam.

Lack followed with another 71 in round two with Tucker shooting a 72.  White had the low round in the final 18 holes with a three-under par 69.

The district tournament at the same Sand Creek Station course begins this Sunday with play wrapping up the following day. The national tourney, also at Sand Creek Station, will be played May 14-18.
