Macomb, Ill. -- Solid performances by sophomores Mitch Tucker and William White helped Indian Hills to a third-place finish in the Beu/Mussatto Invitational.
The Warriors used a terrific second round when all six IHCC golfers shot 73 or better to move into place for a possible team title, but dropped two shots to eventual champion South Dakota State in the final round and wound up four strokes in back of SDSU. IUPUI was second, two shots ahead of the Warriors.
Tucker had a consistent showing in which he fired rounds of 74, 73 and even-par 72 to finish in a tie for third place, two shots behind individual champ Santiago Ruiz of IUPUI. White used a one-under 71 in the second round to end up in a tie for eighth, one stroke behind his teammate, Tucker, and three out of first.
Connor Peck and Kevin Workman gave IHCC two other players in the top 17 -- Peck finishing alone in 16th place and Workman tied for 17th. Both had even-par 72s in the middle round.
Indian Hills was the lone two-year school in the 14-team field in an event they won last year on the way to the Warriors' second consecutive national title.
