Warriors Enjoy Dominating Performance

Newton, Kansas -- Sophomore Mitch Tucker led a quintet of Indian Hills golfers with even-par or below-par rounds in what turned out to be the final 18 holes of the tourney as IHCC won the rain-shortened Iowa/Kansas Clash at the Sand Creek Station Golf Course.  The scheduled third round was canceled because of winter-like weather on Tuesday.

Playing on the course where they won their second straight Division I national title last spring, Indian Hills took a one-shot lead after the opening round on Monday and then blew away the field with a 275, its lowest team score of the season, in the second 18 holes.  The Warriors bested runnerup Iowa Western by 19 shots.

Tucker, who was the meet medalist, had a four-under par 68 in the day's second round to claim the individual title by one stroke with a 139 total.  But Tucker was upstaged a bit by teammate William White, who had the low  round of the tourney -- a sizzling six-under 66 in round two.

Both Ben Ludlam and Kevin Workman followed up opening-round 69s with even-par 72s and gave the Warriors a four-way tie for 4th place with White and Connor Peck, who shot a three-under 69 after a 72 in the first round.  IHCC had five of the top seven scores in the tourney.

Indian Hills returns to the Sand Creek Station course Apr. 29-30 for the District III Championship where they will face virtually the same field as the one in the Iowa/Kansas Clash.
